Position:  Pianist / Organist

NCCUMC is seeking a candidate for the position of Pianist / Organist.  The musician will prepare and lead music for weekly Sunday worship services throughout the year and would also include holiday services (Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve).  The Pastor / Service Leader will choose hymns and notify the musician one week prior to the service.  Prelude, Offertory and Postlude from sacred music may be chosen at the discretion of the musician.  Periodically there will be a soloist for the Offertory that will coordinate with the musician for accompaniment. 

Duties:

  Prepare and play for weekly Sunday worship service (10:00 am – 11:00am)

  Prepare and play for holiday services (Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve)

  Conduct rehearsal as needed with assigned vocalists (may be Sunday post service or other day mutually agreed upon)

  Select and play appropriate liturgical music weekly for prelude, postlude, offertory, communion, etc.

  Have the “right of first refusal” for weddings and funerals

  Work with the SPRC to find a replacement musician in your absence

Qualifications / Experience

  Knowledge and ability to play piano and / or organ

  Ability to read music

  Ability to accompany a soloist

  Previous experience as pianist / organist desirable

Compensation

  $125 per service for one worship service and one rehearsal if needed

  Stipends for weddings and funerals paid by families
